We leave the city of museums to go to the next point of our route - the city of Vidin - on the Danube Eternal guard. At the beginning of the Danube Park in the beautiful building of the former Military Club is the next point of our route - Art Gallery "Nikola Petrov". The building was built in 1892 for a military club with military funds. It is built on the foundations of one of the entrance gates of the Vidin fortress "Kaleto". The building was declared a cultural monument on October 31, 1975.

The decision to establish an art gallery was made in 1960, and the founding itself took place in 1961. The regional art gallery was opened on May 25, 1962 and is one of the first art galleries in the country. The cultural and public figure Angel Budev has merit for the formation of the gallery's fund. The first works to become part of the gallery's collection are works of art purchased from the collections of Mikhail Kremen and Bogomil Raynov. Among the first works from the gallery's collection are about 80 canvases, created in 1962 during a plein air in the city, where artists from all over the country painted, including Stoyan Venev, Panayot Panayotov, Ivan Hristov and others.

Today the exposition of Art Gallery "Nikola Petrov" consists of three departments - Painting, Graphics and Sculpture with about 1400 works in total.

The Painting department stores over 900 canvases, including the original works of Ivan Mrkvička, Boris Mitov, Nikola Petrov, Vladimir Dimitrov - Maystora, Sirak Skitnik, Zlatyu Boyadzhiev, Stoyan Venev, Vasil Stoilov, Zdravko Alexandrov, Ivan Tabakov and other great artists of fine art.

The Graphics department of the art gallery in Vidin contains 45 original works by world-famous masters, including Rembrandt, Albrecht Dürer, Gustave Doré, Francisco Goya, Jean-François Millet, Delacroix, Théodore Rousseau.

The collection of the Sculpture department contains works by masters such as Ivan Funev, Dimitar Ostoich, Anastasia Gyukova, Alexander Apostolov, Prodan Prodanov, Lyubomir Dalchev and others.
