Art Gallery "Ilia Beshkov"

Meters away from RIM-Pleven is our next stop from the extended route "Art and Culture" – Art Gallery "Ilya Beshkov". The gallery is among the largest in Bulgaria and has an exhibition area of 2500 sq.m. The gallery was founded in 1958 as an affiliate of the egional Historical Museum – Pleven and since 1978 it is located in a specially built building. Today the Art Gallery "Ilya Beshkov" has over 6000 works of art systematized in the funds "Painting", "Graphics", "Sculpture", "Icons", "Plein air", as well as personal funds "Ilya Beshkov" (with over 1200 art works) and "Angel Spasov", in which much of their works are stored. The permanent exhibition presents art works by authors from the late 19th century to the 1970s, including Ivan Mrkvička , Sirak Skitnik, Vladimir Dimitrov – Maystora, Dechko Uzunov, Zlatyu Boyadzhiev and many others. In the gallery also found place sculptures of Ivan Lazarov, Petar Balabanov, Marko Markov, Angel Spasov. The gallery hosts the National Biennale of Small Forms – Pleven, Fodar International Photo Biennale, concerts, recitals, conferences, etc.
